History of Semnan University of Medical Sciences
Semnan University of Medical Sciences was established on February 11, 1989. It began its academic activities by admitting 60 students in the field of medicine under the supervision of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Within less than a year, through the great efforts of university officials and the approval of the Council for the Expansion of Medical Universities, the School of Medicine was upgraded to the Semnan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services.
In 1989, several new academic units were added to the university, including the School of Nursing and Paramedicine and the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Shahroud. Today, the university offers a wide range of programs at different academic levels — from associate degrees to Ph.D. programs — and continues to admit students in various medical and health-related disciplines.

Introduction to the Physiology Research Center
The Physiology Research Center, one of the oldest research centers at Semnan University of Medical Sciences, received its initial approval in 2004 and obtained final approval from the Ministry of Health in 2007.
Currently, the center employs 10 faculty members and operates 15 active research laboratories in various scientific fields. The main research areas include neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, neuroanatomy, molecular neurobiology, neurobiology of learning and memory, cerebral vascular studies in animal models, peripheral neuropathy, hemodynamic changes in animal models, neuromuscular conduction, wound healing, and clinical sciences.

Introduction to the Dormitories of Semnan University of Medical Sciences
One of the most important welfare facilities at Semnan University of Medical Sciences is its student dormitories. At present, there are 13 dormitory buildings located in Semnan, Damghan, Sorkheh, and Aradan, which provide accommodation for students during their studies. The university also offers family dormitories for married students.
