Studying at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences
In 1983, through the efforts of the Ayatollah Sadoughi, the first medical school established after the Islamic Revolution began its activities in Yazd by admitting 33 medical students. Following this, the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, as well as Allied Health Sciences, were founded. In 1994, in line with the national plan to integrate medical schools under the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the institution was elevated to Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. Through the university’s continuous efforts, the Schools of Public Health and Dentistry were later added to the complex. At present, the university comprises seven vice-chancellorships, ten faculties, more than eighteen research centers, thirteen hospitals, and ten health networks. The total number of students is approximately 6,000, of whom 12% are postgraduate students and 6% are clinical residents (specialty, subspecialty, and fellowship programs).
