Studying at Urmia University of Technology
Urmia University of Technology is a public university located in the city of Urmia, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. It was established in 2006 (1385 in the Iranian calendar). Currently, the university has 4,895 students and 105 faculty members. According to analyses, the university has published 1,863 scientific articles in domestic journals and conferences. Additionally, it has produced 108 reputable international research papers so far.
Ranking
According to the Public Relations office and the Research and Technology Management of Urmia University of Technology, the latest nationwide university rankings in 1404 (2025) were published by the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC). In this ranking, 115 public universities and 21 private universities across the country were evaluated. The evaluation criteria included six areas with weighted importance:

- Scientific and Technological Authority and Diplomacy (15%)
- Cultural, Social, and Student Affairs (15%)
- Management and Efficiency (10%)

Facilities
Urmia University has 13 government-run dormitories, as well as self-managed and rented dormitories. The university provides a library for students from undergraduate to PhD levels. Students can reserve the specialized and general textbooks they need online and then borrow them by visiting the library in person. The Urmia University library has two separate study halls—one for male students and one for female students—where they can read the specialized and general books they need.
